Religious and non-religious funeral ceremonies

Funerals are often sad occasions but the natural grief of family and friends can be assuaged by having a ceremony that honours the beliefs of the person who has passed away.

I can prepare a funeral within a traditional structure, or make the occasion more original and creative, to suit your individual or family requirements.  The ceremony can be religious, non-religious, part-religious or spiritual – you really have control over every aspect of creating the service. At the same time, I understand that this can be a very stressful time, so I can offer many readings/ceremony outlines, and anything that might help us create the best ceremony to say farewell – and to celebrate and remember the life that has passed.

I can be present at a cremation or a burial, in a standard graveyard or a less traditional open-air burial site (providing it has already been approved for this purpose).  I can even prepare a ceremony for burials at sea, should that be required.

Referrals often come through the Funeral Directors employed by the family, but you can also contact me directly, and I can liaise with your chosen Funeral Director, or help you find one.

I generally meet with the family once, then follow up with e-mails or phone calls to finalise the arrangements for the ceremony.

I work in Glasgow, the Scottish Borders area, and Edinburgh.  I will also travel further afield for some ceremonies and can be available for funeral ceremonies at short notice.
