This is a rather unconventional wedding for nature lovers ideally in the round and outside but it wouldn't have to be. It's about nature and the four elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire; and the fifth element of Ether or a Higher Power.
The ceremony begins with a welcome. After a prayer of thanksgiving and invocation there's an acknowledgement of the bride and groom and talk about what they love about each other and how they got together.
Then they're invited to step out on a symbolic journey to receive blessings along the way and to explore what marriage will mean to them whilst invoking qualities which will contribute to their loving and joyful union - the qualities they have said they wish to invoke. This is very interactive and can include many different friends or family members or groups to take part in the rituals. There's a weaving together of ritual and words at each point, with each point having a similar format, but a different emphasis. The couple are blessed by everyone at each point.
The couple go round four points on the circle and then step into the centre to light the central candle together and take their vows, followed by an exchange of rings. They stay in the central circle for the final blessing and pronouncement of marriage and then leave to some uplifting music to go and sign the paperwork.
