Our authorisation to hold the legal aspect of a marriage ceremony comes from two places.
We trained for two years with The Interfaith Seminary and then took individual and group vows to be ordained as Interfaith Ministers. We abide by the Code of Ethics of the graduate body of The Interfaith Seminary. The whole world is our parish and we can create ceremony anywhere we're invited to go!
The only ceremonies that have a legal element are weddings. In Scotland we have the great privilege of being granted authorisation by the General Registrar in Edinburgh to hold legal wedding ceremonies anywhere in Scotland. This authorisation comes to us as registered people (rather than the ceremony needing to take place in a registered premises) and we gain our authorisation on account of our training and affiliation with The Interfaith Seminary.
