Celebrating Miracles
Christenings and Baptisms are not as popular as they once were years ago but if you're reading this, perhaps, like many other parents today, you still want to mark the arrival of your child and have some kind of special celebration which may or may not include an 'official' naming.
Whether it's a private or public expression of commitment to your child, a ceremony is a very special way of celebrating your child's birth and welcoming him or her into your family. It's an opportunity for you, or you and your family and friends to pledge love and support to the child throughout his or her life.
A religious naming (a Christening) may not be appropriate for you because you don't want your child to be welcomed into a particular church or religion. Perhaps you feel you want your child to be free to choose his or her own religious or spiritual path according to his own free will when he or she is old enough.
Non-spiritual ceremonies held by Registrars or Humanist Celebrants are available, but there are still parents who would like a ceremony with some kind of spiritual content which wouldn't fit either the religious or the non-religious box.
